It seems there is a life outside this decaying art-community thing. For the last months, I have been tempted to leave DA for good. There are some fantastic artists here, mind you - but these artists also have their own websites, blogs, they most likely are active on other communities. The ammount of shitty artwork here never fails to impress me, as well as the unbearable anime-otaku-fandom attitude that's so popular. I don't think DA is such a bad place - it's just that I really don't give a damn anymore. For the last year, I've pretty much stopped commenting or interacting with other members and I don't think I'm the only one. The favs/comment ratio on my stuff has never been this low and I don't think it makes much difference what I write about in my journals or how often I update anymore. The only active community inside the DAsphere is the fanart/anime clique, as well as the supra popular members with their own fanclubs.
It's about time DA gets with the Web 2.0 trend that makes some other options so appealing. Since I got my blog, I've discovered amazing art, websites, communities and people, far more interesting than my daily browsing here.
The bottom line is that now I have my website, my blog on which I work hard on making as interesting as possible and some fantastic inpirations all accross the Interwebs'es.
I'm not leaving DA because I already have an amazing exposure here and for much of my friends, this is the adress they come the most to. But I really want my """""fans""""" to get to know me better. I'm talking about all the wonderful DA members who have been watching me for so long, commenting on my stuff and asking me when I was gonna work on Projet Utopia again.

,That's why my decision is as follow:
I am going to keep posting stuff on DA BUT I will update my blog FIRST with new art as soon as it's done. I used to be eager to submit anything here, almost rushing to get the colours done. Not only is it stressful and not quite clever but it's also worthless as all I seem to be getting is loads of favs and very, very few comments. Plus, I started posting pictures of sketches and "in progress" shots, a thing I never did on DA.
So now DA wil become a sort of image dump for me and eventually, I'll shut down this account. I think that bookmarking my personnal website and checking back now and then isn't more complicated than going through your devwatch. Besides, if I'm not gonna get any constructive comments here, I'm better off maintening a website I designed myself rather than this grey piece of sh-website that is DA. On which I've been on long enough to know by heart...
This is Cab, signing off.
